Known
as the Whale Watching capital of the Oregon coast, Depoe Bay provides
a unique variety f activities and sights for tourists and residents
alike. Among the many community events two of the favorites are the
annual Memorial Day Fleet of Flowers. It is a nationally acclaimed ceremony
dedicated to those lost at sea.
In September the Indian Style Salmon Bake offers locally caught salmon
slow roasted in a fire pit just as the native Americans did 2,000 years
ago. There are also crafts and entertainment provided throughout the
weekend.
Depoe Bay is situated between Newport, the county seat of Lincoln County,
and Lincoln City. There are numerous State Parksand beaches all along
the central coast which provide beautiful ocean and wildlife viewing
and water-relaed activities such as fishing, surfing and beachcombing.
